The hot and hot season has come, and farmers don’t care. The number of poultry that die from high temperatures every year is countless. This is also related to the lack of management measures. Today, the authors will come together to learn how to manage large-scale chicken farms in the summer heat to minimize losses.
1. Provide cool drinking water
The hot summer requires more water for both humans and animals. Usually, a chicken needs 150 ml of water a day, and summer is three to four times that of winter. Therefore, it is recommended that chicken farmers provide more refreshing water during the summer, and pay attention to timely replacement to keep the water clean.
2. Emphasis on hygiene, disinfection and epidemic prevention
Summer is a season in which many pests and diseases are easy to breed. At this time, chicken farmers should pay more attention to the hygiene of chicken houses andpoultry battery cages, as well as timely disinfection. The manure of the chicken farm should be cleaned in time, and the chicken farm should be disinfected once a week. It can be combined with spray cooling to disinfect the chicken.
3. Reasonable feed supply
After entering the summer, the feed intake of the flocks is generally reduced by 10 to 15% on average, and in high temperature and hot weather, some chickens even reduce food consumption by more than 30%. Therefore, in order to make up for the lack of intake of nutrients, the diet should be adjusted reasonably. When the air is cool in the morning and evening, the chicken should be collected enough to ensure that the feed intake of the chicken reaches sufficient nutrients during the day to meet the production and physiological needs.
4. Strengthen ventilation and ventilation
Before the onset of the hot season, air-conditioned equipment can be installed in closed houses to reduce the temperature of the house, or an exhaust fan can be installed on both sides of the house for longitudinal ventilation to enhance ventilation and discharge harmful gases. For open chicken houses, ceiling fans or fans should be provided to enhance ventilation during the hot season. The skylights should be opened in the house, and the north and south windows should be opened as much as possible. In the evening without wind and rain, the window closing time can be extended according to the age of the chickens, and the conditions should be appropriately created to increase the daily temperature difference to enhance the adaptability of the chickens to the cold and heat. Practice has shown that the greater the daily temperature difference, the stronger the chicken’s ability to resist heat stress.
In general, friends who raise chickens before the summer season should do some measures. When the hot weather is really coming, pay more attention to diet and hygiene.
